Psalm 104 is a magnificent hymn of praise that celebrates the greatness of God through His creation. Let’s look at verses 33–34 in context and then conclude with a heartfelt prayer of praise.



### **Psalm 104:33–34 (KJV)**

**33** *I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.*
**34** *My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.*


###  **Explanation of Psalm 104: The Greatness of God**

Psalm 104 is a poetic and powerful expression of God's majesty, wisdom, and providence as revealed in nature. It begins by exalting God for His splendor, describing Him as clothed with light and stretching out the heavens like a curtain (v.2). The psalm then moves through a series of images that show God’s sovereign control over the earth, waters, animals, seasons, and all living things.

God is depicted as the One who:

* **Created the heavens and the earth** (vv.1–5)
* **Controls the waters and boundaries of the sea** (vv.6–9)
* **Provides for all creation**, from birds in the trees to cattle in the fields (vv.10–18)
* **Appointed the moon for seasons and made the sun to know its going down** (v.19)
* **Feeds the lions and all creatures** (vv.21–23)
* **Sustains life by His Spirit and renews the face of the earth** (v.30)

It’s a song of awe, marveling at how **everything is dependent on God**. There’s no area of life untouched by His hand. The psalmist takes time to observe nature and is overwhelmed by the beauty and order God created.



###  Verses 33–34: Our Response

After meditating on all the ways God’s power is displayed in creation, the psalmist responds with personal devotion:

* **“I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live”** — A life-long commitment to worship.
* **“While I have my being”** — Every breath, every moment is an opportunity to praise God.
* **“My meditation of Him shall be sweet”** — Thinking about God isn’t a duty, it’s a delight.
* **“I will be glad in the Lord”** — True joy is found in Him, not in the creation, but in the Creator.

**Heavenly Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth,**

We come before You with hearts full of awe and wonder. You wrap Yourself in light as with a garment. You stretch out the heavens like a curtain and command the seas to stop where You have set their bounds. You feed every creature, from the birds of the air to the beasts of the field. You open Your hand, and we are filled with good things. You hide Your face, and we are troubled.

What a mighty God You are!

Lord, we echo the psalmist: We will sing unto You as long as we live. As long as we have breath, we will praise You. You alone are worthy. Our thoughts of You are sweet, sweeter than honey. In Your presence is fullness of joy. We rejoice in You today, not because of what You give, but because of who You are.

Thank You for sustaining us, for renewing the earth, for being a faithful and loving God. You reign above all creation and yet dwell with the humble. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the source of all life.

Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord!
