Just as the Torah forms the foundation of the Old Covenant, Paul’s revelation from Jesus Christ forms the foundation of the New Covenant. Below is a **mirror structure**: each of the Five Books of Moses reflected in the **apostolic doctrine revealed to Apostle Paul**.

 **1. Genesis – “Beginnings” - Paul’s Message of New Creation**

**Genesis** begins the story of humanity, sin, and God’s covenant.
**Paul** begins with a greater beginning: *a new creation in Christ.*

* **Old Creation**: “In the beginning…”
* **New Creation**: “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature” (2 Cor 5:17).

* **Adam brought death**

Everything begins again at the cross. The old man dies, the new man rises.



 **2. Exodus – “Redemption” - Paul’s Revelation of Deliverance**

Exodus tells of Israel redeemed from slavery by blood and power.

Paul reveals the *true Exodus* our redemption through the blood of Christ.

* **Christ our Passover sacrificed for us** (1 Cor 5:7).

 **3. Leviticus – “Holiness & Priesthood” - Paul’s Doctrine of Sanctification**

Leviticus establishes holiness, sacrifice, and priesthood.

Paul reveals that believers are now the living temple and priests.

* **Christ’s once-for-all offering** (Rom 8:3; Eph 5:2).

 **Three pillars of the mirror**

 **1. Christ fulfills the entire sacrificial system**

* Levitical offerings - “Christ offered Himself once for all.”
* Priests in the tabernacle - believers as living temples.
* Holy garments - the believer “putting on Christ.”

 **2. Believers now live out holiness by the Spirit**

Leviticus gives the pattern;
Paul reveals the power.

* “Be holy” - “Walk in the Spirit.”
* Burnt offerings - “present your bodies a living sacrifice.”
* Priestly separation - “come out from among them and be separate.”

 **3. Jerusalem Council boundaries (Acts 15:19-20) reflect Levitical holiness**

The apostles, guided by the Holy Spirit, set **minimum boundary markers** for Gentile believers:

* abstain from sexual immorality,
* abstain from blood,
* abstain from things strangled,
* abstain from food offered to idols.

These are not the Mosaic Law returned; they are **core holiness principles** that:

* protected unity between Jewish and Gentile believers,
* upheld God’s moral purity,
* distanced converts from idolatry,
* respected the sanctity of blood (a deep Levitical principle).

Leviticus reveals the form of holiness.
Paul reveals the life of holiness.
Acts 15:19-20 provides the boundaries of holiness for New-Covenant believers.

 **Paul’s Leviticus Message:**

Holiness isn’t achieved — it's received, then lived out through the Spirit.


 **4. Numbers – “Wilderness Walk” - Paul’s Teaching on the Believer’s Walk**

Numbers shows Israel in the wilderness, tested, wandering, learning obedience.

Paul explains our spiritual journey—the battlefield of the flesh and Spirit.

 **Themes Mirrored**

* **Wilderness testing**
* **Believers tested in spiritual warfare** (Eph 6:12).

* **Complaining, unbelief, fleshly rebellion**
* **“Walk in the Spirit… not fulfill the lust of the flesh”** (Gal 5:16).

* **Spirit-led living** (Rom 8:14).

 **5. Deuteronomy – “Renewal of the Covenant” - Paul’s Revelation of New Covenant Life**

Deuteronomy repeats and seals the covenant for the next generation.

Paul reveals the **new covenant**, written not on tablets but in hearts.

 **Themes Mirrored**

* **Moses rehearses the law**
* **Paul reveals the law fulfilled in Christ** (Rom 10:4).

* **Blessing vs. curse**
* **Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law** (Gal 3:13).

* **“Love the LORD with all your heart”**

Deuteronomy: “Remember where God brought you from”**

Over and over Moses says:

* *“Remember you were slaves in Egypt.”*
* *“Remember you were not a people.”*
* *“Remember the LORD redeemed you.”*
* *“Remember you had no strength, no covenant, no inheritance.”*

Deuteronomy is a *book of remembrance* — reminding Israel:

* where they were
* who they were
* and what God did for them

before giving them their new identity as God’s covenant people.


# ** Ephesians 2:12–13: Paul says the same thing to the Gentiles**

Paul repeats the Deuteronomy pattern word-for-word in the New Covenant:

 **“Remember… you were without Christ,
> strangers from the covenants,
> having no hope,
> and without God in the world.”**
> (Ephesians 2:12)

This is the Gentile “Egypt.”
This is the spiritual “outside the covenant.”

But then Paul gives the New Covenant fulfillment:

> **“But now in Christ Jesus you who were far off
> have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”**
> (Ephesians 2:13)

Just like Israel was brought near by covenant blood,
**Gentiles are brought near by the blood of Jesus Christ.**

 **Why this matters**

Deuteronomy prepares Israel to walk as God’s covenant people.
Ephesians prepares believers to walk as God’s new covenant people.

The Old Covenant inheritance - Canaan
The New Covenant inheritance - Christ Himself

**Both books start with remembering and end with inheritance.**


 **Paul’s Deuteronomy Message:**

The law is fulfilled. The Spirit writes God’s will on our hearts. We walk in love.


 **DEVOTIONAL SUMMARY**

The Torah gives the shadow.
Paul gives the substance.
Moses shows the outward law.
Paul shows the inward life.
The Old Covenant begins with creation.
The New Covenant begins with new creation.

Both tell one story—
**God redeeming a people to dwell in them and walk with them forever.**
